Apple has officially bridged the gap between Science Fiction and Reality.

Figuring out the tech world feels like drinking water from a firehose. When you think you have things figured out, Apple makes waves by releasing an open-source AI model, MGIE, short for “Multimodal Large Language Model Guided Image Editing”.

This begs the question, is Apple trying to compete with META? (Read more here).

Apple Competes by Simply Not Competing

DALL-E, Chat GPT 4, and several other software are available to create an image for you from scratch. Apple has taken a turn here.

Instead, they focus on editing existing images in nuanced ways, like adding vegetable toppings to a pizza upon request to make it “healthier”, or altering specific parts of an image without overhauling the whole scene.
